How to get the shaker look in your kitchen.
There are a lot of variations on the theme but in it's purest form a shaker style kitchen is all about simplicity, utility and craftsmanship. Originally hand made by a New England religious sect, square framed doors with a flat centre panel characterize the style.
The simplicity of the door lends itself well to painted finishes and Masterclass kitchens have some beautiful colours, the most popular being powder blue, cream, stone and mussel. As you will see in our gallery combining a couple of colours produces elegant outcome. If you have the room free standing feature pieces like a dresser for glasses or china, a moveable butchers block chopping table can add individuality and authenticity.

Some open shelving or plate racks in natural wood can be functional, add some contrast and break up an uninspiring run of doors. If you want a table then wooden topped with legs painted to match the cabinet finish is just the ticket, chairs should be upright with horizontal struts.

Original worktops would have been wood and that is fine today too but so is granite or a mix of the two. Washed oak or ash flooring looks great with this style of kitchen, laminate if you are on a budget, engineered wood if not.
Walls can be wooden panelled tongue and groove or tiled. If tiled then a complimentary harlequin mix of pastel colours looks suits this style of kitchen really well. The Winchester Tile Company have a great selection of hand painted tiles.
Original sinks were made of stone but Rangemaster have some great looking fired ceramic sinks and appliances that go very well in shaker style kitchens. We are able to source these for you, or any other brand of appliance for that matter.
